Two previous Spanish students, Monica Lynch and Christina Anderson, spoke in Dr. Hildebrandt's LAN320.11 class this February. Monica is currently employed as a Spanish teacher in Chillicothe and Christina is a Spanish and French teacher at Marquette Academy in Ottawa, IL. Bethany Inch, a former French student and currently employed as a full-time French teacher in Oswego High School, was also present via Skype.. |
Section News
The ISU Italian program is thriving. For the first time ever, we found it necessary to offer three sections of second-semester (Italian 112) in Spring 2011 to accommodate record enrollments. This spike in interest is due, in part, to the new on-line textbooks that we have adopted. Student engagement with these new materials has been impressive.
On Friday, March 25, 2011, the Graduate Program hosted an oral presentation session of the annual Graduate Research Symposium sponsored by Illinois State University. |

Italy continues to be a popular destination for ISU students who study abroad.

Alumni
Alums Rachid Ahmed and Andy Hillier were honored at the annual Alumni Lunch in mid-October. Rachid, an undergrad French major and a Fullbright scholar in Korea, works with underprivileged youth in Chicago. Andy, who did both his B.A. and M.A. in French at Illinois State University, teaches French in a middle school in the Chicago suburbs..
