Monica is currently employed as a Spanish teacher in Chillicothe and Christina is a Spanish and French teacher at Marquette Academy in Ottawa, IL. Graduate SymposiunItalian Program is thriving

The ISU Italian program is thriving. For the first time ever, we found it necessary to offer three sections of second-semester (Italian 112) in Spring 2011 to accommodate record enrollments. This spike in interest is due, in part, to the new on-line textbooks that we have adopted. Student engagement with these new materials has been impressive.

AlumniAlums take big strides

Alums Rachid Ahmed and Andy Hillier were honored at the annual Alumni Lunch in mid-October.  Rachid, an undergrad French major and a Fullbright scholar in Korea, works with underprivileged youth in Chicago.  Andy, who did both his B.A. and M.A. in French at Illinois State University, teaches French in a middle school in the Chicago suburbs..

The Spanish club sponsored the Cultural Experience Field Trip to Costa Rica this Spring break.  The trip is a full immersion Spanish program that includes language use, cultural experiences, excursions, and volunteer opportunity..
