Frequently Asked Questions

What course should I take?

If your score is between...

  • 47-65 you are ready for the 200-level Spanish courses at Illinois State
  • 42-46 with some extra review you may be prepared for the 200-level; otherwise you should take 116.15
  • 0-46 you are probably not prepared for the 200-level — take the 116.15 placement test to see if you should begin there

What if I'm right on the border?

If your score is on the borderline, do take into consideration your skill levels in speaking and writing. If you are strong in these areas, consider the higher level. If you have concerns, enroll in the lower level.

What if I still want to enroll in a 200.15 level class?

Is there a required score for entry into each level?

Will a low score block my enrollment?

Your score on this test is advisory only. It will not block you from enrolling in any course for which you have completed the prerequisites (see catalog). If your score is lower than you had hoped, but you have completed the prerequisites listed in the catalog, you may still enroll in the 200.15-level course. You should be aware that you will not be as well prepared as most of your classmates, and you will need to budget extra time for study.
