German Major Requirements

- GER 111: First Year German Part I
- GER 112: First Year German Part II
- GER 115: Second Year German Part I
- GER 116: Second Year German Part II
- GER 211: Introduction to German Literature
- GER 213: Intermediate German Composition
- GER 217: German Culture and Civilization
- GER 317: Contemporary Issues of German-Speaking Countries
- GER 322: Survey of German Literature
- GER 310: Advanced Study of the German Language
- GER 385: Selected Topics in German Literature or Culture (this class is repeatable when course content varies.)
** GER 285 Topics courses may substitute for certain 200 and 300-level German classes, depending on the course content. Check with the German section for more information.
- enough elective German classes (either through study abroad or by taking GER 285 and/or GER 385 a second time) to meet the minimum hours requirement.
Honors
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (LAN) strongly encourages LAN majors to apply to and participate in the Honors Program. The Honors Program provides unique opportunities for academic and extracurricular engagement. In addition, it enhances students' resumes and provides them with experiences which will benefit them in their futures.
