Illinois State students can participate in the Academic Exchange Program at the University of Salamanca, Spain, for one semester or an academic year.
Students take classes with Spanish students at the university. It is an excellent opportunity for immersion, especially for students aiming for Advanced-level proficiency. Tuition is waived; students pay only general fees, housing, meals, transportation, and personal expenses.
With assistance from the program director, Dr. Monsterrat Mir, students choose courses that will count toward the major. The program director will also provide an additional assessment of each student’s work to assure that grades are in accordance with Illinois State expectations.
Classes at the University of Salamanca will transfer to Illinois State for the Spanish major/minor or Bilingual Education major (upon approval by the program director).
