Students majoring in teacher education in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (LAN) must also meet the following requirements:
- Attend an informational meeting for prospective LAN teacher education majors, which is held each February and September.
- Interview for departmental approval. After you have attended the informational meeting, complete the Teacher Education Program Interview worksheet and bring it to your scheduled interview. To be considered for admission to the LAN teacher education program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher at Illinois State.
- Possess a major GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Demonstrate a positive disposition toward teaching via your interview and feedback provided by your professors in your major.
Interviews with program candidates are scheduled only once per semester, so you must turn in your Interview Form by mid-September if you wish to be admitted for the spring or by mid-February if you wish to be admitted for the fall.
