The Spanish Conversation in Avila program provides students studying Spanish (major or minor) with a short-term language immersion opportunity in the summer.
The program is based at Universidad de Salamanca, considered to be one of the oldest Spanish universities in existence, founded in 1218. It is located in the midsized town Avila, about one hour west of Madrid.

Language of instruction: Illinois State's Spanish faculty will accompany students and teach either (SPA 215) Intro to Hispanic Linguistics or (SPA 233) Intro to Hispanic Literature. Avila faculty will teach Lengua y Cultura course for credit toward SPA 214: Conversation and Culture in Spanish.
